The Mu Sigma Phi Fraternity and Sorority held the annual Mu Week, and for 2018, they chose the theme “Signum: Glory Forged in Flames”. The opening ceremonies were held last August 23 at the PGH Elevator Lobby, where they unveiled their exhibit.
Fiesta at the Hut followed later in the day, where students of Class 2023 were treated with a feast of lechon, pancit, ice cream, crepe, and drinks at the Mu Hut.
On the night of August 24, Class 2023 sang and partied at Mu Rock: Rockeoke Night with the Mu Band at Las Palmas Hotel de Manila, where a lucky student took home a copy of Guyton and Hall’s Textbook of Medical Physiology.
In the afternoon of August 28, registration for the organization’s year-round event, ImMUnity: An Ounce of Prevention, was opened at MSU 2nd Floor. Free vaccinations for influenza, hepatitis B, and typhoid fever were offered to UP Manila students. In the early evening, Money Talks: A Financial Management Workshop was held at the SOJR Auditorium, where financial advisers from Insular Life and First Metro Securities spoke and helped attendees learn how to practice better financial management.
On August 29, a review for Class 2023’s dermatology kodachrome exam was held at the RB Espiritu Auditorium of Sentro Oftalmologico Jose Rizal. Leading the review was Dr. Patricia Nacianceno, Chief Resident of the PGH Section of Dermatology.
Vaccine administration for ImMUnity was held on August 29 and on the following day. On August 31, the organization held Lukso ng Dugo, a bloodletting event for the benefit of the PGH Blood Bank. To end Mu Week 2018, a Thanksgiving Mass was held at the PGH Chapel in the afternoon.
The annual celebration aimed to embody the Fraternity and Sorority’s pillars, namely brotherhood and sisterhood, leadership, scholarship, and service.
